SHORT TREK + ACTIVITIES

TREK + ADRENALIN LITE

Short Family Trek + Fun Mountain Activities

READY TO HAVE FUN?

Do it all in the same holiday: Take your family or friends on trek to sleep in a mountain refuge at altitude for a couple of nights (walking between refuges each day), swim in the mountain streams, climb to a high pass for a big view. Then spend a couple of days doing higher adrenalin activities like rafting, the high ropes course with zip huge wires and the mountain scooter.

This holiday is a great balance between walking and other mountain activities.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

Make your way to Luz St Sauveur. First night in Hotel Les Templiers in Luz. Full briefing on your trek with distribution of maps and detailed walk notes. We will check your pack to make sure you have what you need, but nothing extra.

DAY 2

Catch the bus either to Pragnère or Gedre, depending on whether you’d like a half day or a full day walking. You will walk from Gèdre along part of the old Way of St James heading towards Gavarnie, or along a variant of the GR10 to reach the Saugué Gite on the plateau of the same name. Your first night at 1600m.

DAY 3

Today you will walk on the GR10 down to Gavarnie through the Ossoue Valley. Extraordinary views all round into the Gavarnie Cirque and into the Ossoue Valley. Usually there are plenty of marmots to be spotted here. Again there is the option of a half day or a full day walk. Sleep in a refuge outside the hustle of the village itself.

DAY 4

The Gavarnie Cirque is one of the major sites of the Pyrénées – a semi-circular wall of rock reaching from 1300m to over 3000m, carved out by successive glaciers over the last 2 million years. You will walk all the way around it, perhaps even to the foot of the Grande Cascade (waterfall of over 400m) and up to sleep in a high refuge above the cirque.

DAY 5

You will walk down to Gavarnie from the refuge (2 hours) to catch the bus back to Luz, and back to Hotel Les Templiers. You have the high ropes course this afternoon, and could also take advantage of the local pool and the tennis courts nearby.

DAY 6

Relax, explore the local walks around Luz, then head out for an afternoon rafting on the river.

DAY 7

Your last day, and a great morning or afternoon out on the mountain scooters. You start 1000m above Luz and follow the GR10 and other paths down the mountain passing through the villages of Grust and Sazos on the way. A very nice way to end the week.

DAY 8

Depart hotel in the morning to continue your holidays or head home.
