NEOUVIELLE LAKES TREK
Lakes, lakes and more lakes...
READY TO HIKE ?
We have designed this trek to take in as much of the beautiful Néouvielle Nature Reserve as possible in only five days. We will walk from refuge to refuge with some days walking up to 6-7 hours and some shorter days, always ending by a lake where we can relax by the refuge, have a swim and a refreshing drink.
The trek begins with climbing the Turon de Néouvielle, a majestic 3000m summit with panoramic views over the course of our trek and the colours of the numerous lakes below. The granite landscape is contrasted with high mountain pines and rhododendron shrubs. It is a truly special place to be.

We pick you up from either Lourdes, Argeles or Luz and bring you to the start of our trek above Barèges. An afternoon hike up to the Glère refuge for dinner and lovely views over the lake. A great way to start.
Ascension day! We climb to the summit of the Turon du Néouvielle, a 3000m peak with spectacular views on the trek to come and the spectacular Cap de Long dam. (A shorter and easier day with a lake circuit will be possible for those not wanting to do the summit) and back down to Refuge Glere.
From La Glère we cross two passes and drop down to the great Lac d’Oule and its refuge for a very comfortable night. A long but spectacular day.
Via a lower forested pass and ever-more lakes, we head east to the charming Bastan refuge and its ‘warm’ lake (it’s very shallow). Perfect for a swim and a drink at the end of the day.
From the Bastan we head back through the rhododendron and granite landscape of the Aigues-Cluzes valley from where we are collected and head down to Luz for a hot shower and comfortable bed.
Transfer to Lourdes to connect with onward or homeward transport.
